Ensenada

While in San Diego we made a day trip down to Mexico. We were driving down with friends and as we crossed the border we got pulled over for a moment while they looked inside our trunk. We were quickly on our way and a moment later faced a junction with signs leading to Tijuana or Ensenada both of which we had discussed visiting.

We were now unexpectedly separated from our friends who had actually planned for this outing and not sure which way to go. We choose Ensenada, and tried to get a quick phone call out before we lost reception. I made it through to talk to Michelle and tell her which way we had gone to find out they had taken the other road; then the phone cut out. We were able to exchange a few texts and we waited a while at a rest stop hoping to meet up but their path was leading a different way now.  Eventually we decided we better just drive to Ensenada and hope we met up with them somehow.

So we started off again only to reach a toll booth a few minutes later with no pesos. After a moment of worry, we saw they took dollars. We were on our way and a little bummed we had gotten separated. There were two different highways that ran mostly parallel down the coast to Ensenada. We suspected our friends were on the other road. At some point we switched to the other road in hopes that would help us find them.

An hour and a half later or so we entered Ensenada and pulled over to try and locate a wifi signal to attempt sending them a text. Shortly after that they pulled up behind us and we were so thrilled to meet up!

So we walked around and found a place to eat. The menu at our chosen restaurant had a few helpful photos on the menu. M identified this drink and was quite pleased to order and receive it:

One really happy little kid, with a gigantic treat:

Also thoroughly enjoying her drink order:

As J likes to say: "drink. Cheers!"

Visiting a blowhole- la bufadora:

A really great view at sunset for dinner that night:

It was the perfect stop on the way home:
