We started a tradition of organizing a family trip to a national park back in 2010. It's been really fun and this year was another successful trip. We headed to Great Basin National Park in Nevada. We were a little nervous about how cold it might be, but we really lucked out with good weather. We saw lots of turkeys throughout the trip which the kids loved. The fall colors were beautiful and we really enjoyed getting out and spending time with family.

The kids impressed us with some awesome hiking. Our 2nd day there we did about a 5 mile hike and they were still smiling and enjoying themselves after that:

This is the only picture I got of a bristlecone pine tree since my camera died. I loved the detail of the grain of the wood. It was amazing reading about how old these trees can be:
