Wrapping up Paris

One of the highlights of the day Wednesday was our visit to St Chapel with these really awesome stained glass windows.

Afterward we climbed up the tower at Notre dame to hang out with some gargoyles. It provided some great panoramic views of the city.

Thursday we went to Musee d'Orsay in the morning and met up with Erik in the afternoon to go to the aquarium. It wasn't anything special but M enjoyed it.
Friday was my shopping day and I had fun checking out all these adorable french baby stores. A lot of it was really overpriced but it was still fun to look. That night we had dinner with a co-worker of Eriks. The company was great, the food was delicious (traditional Malaysian food) and M had a wonderful time with this darling little girl.

Saturday we went to an outdoor market to purchase a piece of art. It is a long standing tradition to buy a piece of art each time we visit a different country. We have a really cool watercolor from Czech Republic, a hand painted dish from Italy, a cool print we bought from an artist in Germany etc. We look forward to hunting for the right item to commemorate our trip. There were a lot of good options but after much deliberation and some excellent negotiating skills by me we were the proud owners of a really cool acrylic painting.

Then M got to spend some more time brushing up on his french playground skills.

He gained a lot of confidence going down slides on his own during this trip.
He also got a lot of practice steering and I think i'm going to attach a steering wheel to the wall in his room because he is kind of obsessed!

We ended the day having dinner at the house of one of Erik's co-workers. They had 3 children and M was quite happy to play with them. One of the dishes at dinner was something called carpaccio which is basically thin slices of raw meat- beef in this case. I was quite nervous about eating it but it was actually quite good thankfully (this coming from a self proclaimed flexitarian who likes her occasional meat dishes cooked well!) The children were so excited to have visitors over and when we left one of the little boys kept shouting "au revoir madame!!" over and over with a huge smile on his face. It made my day. They were quite adorable and spending an evening in a french home was the perfect way to complete our trip.
