Last Saturday we drove out to Amherst and went to the
Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. It's sort of amazing what a short drive it is to beautiful farmland and countryside. First we grabbed a yummy lunch at Atkins.
Next we went to the museum which was a lot of fun. It was cool to learn more about Eric Carle and fun to see a bunch of his art. It would be nice to go back again when baby M is older so he could enjoy the library, and arts and crafts room. He did love this skunk though.
Afterward we headed over to Skinner State Park and enjoyed the view overlooking the Pioneer Valley and Connecticut River. When I was on the ski team at Smith we used to run up this mountain for some of our early morning workouts. I really enjoyed it, but this time we just drove up to the top : )
The weather was perfect and we just relaxed and enjoyed taking it all in.
We stopped at a road side stand and got a cool refreshing lemonade. The woman simply squeezed a fresh lemon, added some sugar and shook it all together with ice and water. It was delicious!
For dinner we got the best wings ever from one of our favorite restaurants- The Hanger. This was pretty much my favorite place to eat in college for any occasion. It was so fun to visit and and reminisce. Western Mass is really a beautiful place.
