People use the phrase "no pun intended" before they actually say or write the pun. If you don't intend for your statement to be a pun, then use different language to construct that statement.
PS: I have no all feelings towards a good pun - intentional or not. Just don't tell me you are not trying to use a pun and then proceed to do so.
