Hiking through the mountains

We've done some great hikes lately. These pictures are from our hike to Cecret lake above Alta a few weeks ago. M really wanted to know if there was a secret about Cecret lake. He gathered a bunch of sticks with a friend to build a raft since he noted the sign that swimming was not allowed. He didn't have much luck finding a way to bind the sticks together and when he tried a little experiment putting some weight on one of the larger sticks, he concluded that he wasn't going to be able to build something to sustain his weight. It was pretty amusing watching him go through the process though!

Our hiking buddies:

The kids peeking in a little cave opening:

Lots of climbing and jumping:

Moving on to some rock climbing:

They made it up and back to the lake with energy to spare to climb this rock for a photo!

Utah county has some really beautiful hikes. Sundance is a favorite place of mine to go with the kids. We were there two weeks ago when the leaves where beginning to change. We enjoyed the beautiful view eating lunch on the lift and going for an easy hike:

Here we are!

M leading the way:

We tried a new route with a bit of an uphill climb. We made it!

Last week we went to Cascade Springs. It was my first time there and I thought it was a fantastic hike to do with little ones. There were boardwalks to run along:

Benches for resting and being silly:

Gorgeous views:

Lots of plaques to read:

Stairs to conquer:

And bridges to cross:

It was a wonderful hike and the drive itself was a real treat. I stopped to snap a few pictures like these trees below because I couldn't resist:
