Waterton National Park

Waterton was such a cute little resort town. It reminded me a bit of Bar Harbor in Maine. The views of the lake and mountains were beautiful.

The kids were so excited for the boat ride across lake Waterton. I'd told them about it before and M was really looking forward to it.

Here's he is waiting and watching for the boat to arrive:

J discovered a passion for coloring on this trip and was content waiting for the boat on the bench working on her book:

The boat ride took us from the north side of the lake, across the border back to the US side and goat haunt. We had a half hour to walk around before heading back. I would have loved to spend a bit more time and take a later boat back. Next time...

But we enjoyed the short time we had to explore:

got some scenic shots:

and even picked up some sticks:

M made friends with a little boy his age who sat next to us on the boat. By the end he had invited M to his birthday party. Unfortunately, they were from North Dakota but it was really sweet.

Our guide informed us this rock formation below was kind of a big deal. It's called a chevron fold. Seems like a fitting name to me:

Headed back:

Checking out the awesome Prince of Whales hotel:

We took a ride around on this surrey bike one evening and the kids had such a blast. So did my mom and I!

We also found this awesome hot dog shop. I'm not a hot dog person but these were so good. The buns were awesome and they had the yummiest toppings. They also had some awesome unique dipping sauces for fries that were really delicious.

We found out they also do breakfast and went the next day before we left. It was a little slow, but again the food was so good. We got these homemade biscuits and yogurt and fruit parfaits.

We did dessert at the ice cream parlor one evening. It's hard to go wrong when ice cream is involved.

Next we went for a drive and saw some bears which was pretty cool:

These guys were exhausted by then. It was one of the few times that J slept during the long road trip:

And our view as we left Waterton that Friday morning:

I hope we get to go back sometime.

We made it to Butte, Montana that night and spent some time stretching our legs on a little walk and a bike ride to the park for M. Gotta love riding a t rex:
